O’Malley’s band following him to Charlotte

Not only is Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley speaking at next month’s Democratic National Convention, but he’ll be singing, as well.

O’Malley (D) will be joined in Charlotte by his Celtic rock band, O’Malley’s March, according to sources familiar with the governor’s plans. The band is booked to play late-night shows Sept. 4 and Sept. 5 at venues not far from the convention center.

The Sept. 4 performance is to take place at an event at an Irish bar hosted by the Democratic Governors Association, for which O’Malley serves as chairman. On Sept. 5, the band plans to play at a gathering hosted by the Maryland Democratic Party.

Earlier this week, the Democratic National Committee announced a list of featured convention speakers that includes O’Malley. His speaking slot has not yet been announced.
