Shuttered Hillcrest Heights Safeway to be replaced by Evergreen

A new grocer will soon arrive to replace a shuttered Safeway in Hillcrest Heights, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D), announced Wednesday.

Baker, on a bus tour with reporters of several recently opened businesses in Prince George’s, said New York-based Evergreen Supermarket hopes to open before Thanksgiving.

“Every part of our county is going to grow and develop,” Baker said.

Baker and County Council member Karen Toles (D-Suitland), said Evergreen hopes to open several stores in Prince George’s.

Company officials said they expected to hire about 60 employees.
