Teich missed practice this afternoon for a second straight day, and when reporters asked Coach Ken Niumatalolo about the absence, he revealed the team’s leading rusher would be out. Niumatalolo did not specifically call the disciplinary action a suspension.
“It’s a family, inner-circle deal,” Niumatalolo was quoted as saying in multiple media outlets. “I don’t want to disclose too much about what’s going on, air our dirty laundry, so to speak. This kid has been an important part of our program. So out of respect for him, I don’t really want to say what happened. There are some things he has to address.”
Teich’s absence yesterday came to light when a reporter asked to speak with him after practice during the alloted time players are made available to the media. Later, following a private team meeting, when Niumatalolo was asked if Teich was given a day off to rest, he said, “Yeah, kind of.”
Junior Delvin Diggs is next on the depth chart behind Teich, who has 408 yards and one touchdown this year, and figures to start against the Golden Eagles.
