DeEvening Links: Destined for lameness?

Wale: He’s pretty cool, right? (Jon Dragonette - JON DRAGONETTE)
D.C. is destined to be forever uncool, argues Matthew Ygelsias in a succinct Slate post. A thriving arts scene on par with, say, Baltimore or Pittsburgh just isn’t possible here because the rent is too damn high. In D.C., “if you’re a semi-employed artist or guitar player it’s much more expensive than Philadelphia or Baltimore and still smaller and less interesting than New York City, which has less than one-third our murder rate.” The Post’s rock critic/ex-rock star Chris Richards has a retort: “Barf.”
