DeEvening Links: Drinking and driving

Even if you haven’t been drinking until 4 a.m., you might not want to drive come 2013, given all the new speeding cams. (Evy Mages - FOR THE WASHINGTON POST)
The Vincent Gray solution to a $172 million budget gap includes no taxes and no new fees, but two sure-to-be-controversial revenue-raisers. First off, Hizzoner is counting on automated “traffic calming initiatives” (read: new speeding cameras) to generate an extra $30 million in fiscal 2013. Expect the cameras to vex AAA but please neighborhood groups sick of commuter traffic zooming down their thoroughfares. Also in the budget plan, to the tune of $5.3 million: Drink more and later, with bar hours proposed to be extended until 4 a.m. on weekends and 3 a.m. on weekdays. More deets herein and below.
