D.C. Council member and mayor-for-life Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) appeared on CNN today for reasons that are not entirely clear to me.
Barry shared some thoughts on enduring political scandal and rebounding from it. As he has often done through the years, he draws a distinction between scandals that betray the public trust and those dealing with mere personal weakness: “We all have our human frailties, you know. I didn’t run to be pope. I ran to be mayor, et cetera.”
