Where D.C.’s Republicans are

Tomorrow, D.C. Republican politics will make an oh-so-rare trip into national relevance, with voters showing up to decide which presidential candidate will get the city’s 16 delegates.

There’s little drama as far as the outcome goes — with Newt Gingrich fading and Rick Santorum not even on the ballot, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to win handily. But reporters and TV cameras are probably going to want to find some honest-to-God live Republican voters to color their stories, and that can be hard when the city’s reddest precinct has only one in four voters registered with the GOP.

So in the spirit of journalistic altruism, here are the city’s 10 most Republican precincts by number of raw GOP voters:

• Precinct 6 (Ward 2/West Georgetown): 1,102 registered Republicans; Duke Ellington School for the Arts, 500 R St. NW

• Precinct 11 (Ward 3/Glover Park): 1,038 registered Republicans; Guy Mason Recreation Center, 3600 Calvert St. NW

• Precinct 5 (Ward 2/East Georgetown): 755 registered Republicans; Christ Episcopal Church, 1350 31st St. NW

• Precinct 8 (Ward 3/Palisades): 718 registered Republicans; Palisades Recreation Center, 5100 Sherier Place NW

• Precinct 28 (Ward 3/Cathedral Heights): 710 registered Republicans; Church of the Annunciation, 3810 Massachusetts Ave. NW

• Precinct 89 (Ward 6/Central Capitol Hill): 705 registered Republicans; Eastern Market, 225 Seventh St. SE

• Precinct 17 (Ward 2/Downtown): 645 registered Republicans; Metropolitan AME Church, 1518 M St. NW

• Precinct 51 (Ward 4/Chevy Chase): 591 registered Republicans; Lafayette Elementary School, 5701 Broad Branch Rd. NW

• Precinct 9 (Ward 3/Spring Valley): 586 registered Republicans; Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Ave. NW

• Precinct 10 (Ward 3/Wesley Heights): 550 registered Republicans; Horace Mann Community Center 4430 Newark St. NW 20016

And here are the top 10 GOP precincts by percentage of Republican voters registered there:

• Precinct 9 (Ward 3/Spring Valley): 25.8 percent; Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Ave. NW

• Precinct 12 (Ward 3/Mass. Ave. Heights): 23.5 percent; St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral Church, 3600 Massachusetts Ave. NW

• Precinct 7 (Ward 3/Foxhall): 20.0 percent; Hardy Recreation Center, 4500 Q St. NW

• Precinct 8 (Ward 3/Palisades): 18.5 percent; Palisades Recreation Center, 5100 Sherier Place NW
