Bryce Harper batting third: Nationals-Diamondbacks lineup

(LARRY DOWNING - REUTERS)
Bryce Harper’s audition hitting seventh in the lineup lasted only four games. After his best night at the plate in his short major league career, Manager Davey Johnson moved the 19-year old phenom outfielder to third in the lineup. Not only did the kid earn the move up but it’s also needed for an offense that’s lacking Michael Morse and Ryan Zimmerman.

Harper will also play left field, while Rick Ankiel returns to center. Right hander Ian Kennedy (3-0, 3.38 ERA) takes the mound for the Diamondbacks.

UPDATE: Adam LaRoche was scratched from the lineup with right oblique soreness. Werth will bat fourth and Chad Tracy will start at first base and hit fifth.

Nationals:

1) Ian Desmond, SS

2) Steve Lombardozzi, 3B

3) Bryce Harper, LF

4) Jayson Werth, RF

5)Chad Tracy, 1B

6) Danny Espinosa, 2B

7) Rick Ankiel, CF

8) Wilson Ramos, C

9) Ross Detwiler, SP
