Doug Slaten returns from the disabled list

The Nationals today reinstated left-handed reliever Doug Slaten from the disabled list after Slaten had been out since early June with irritation in his ulnar nerve. With rosters able to expand in September, the Nationals could add Slaten to the active roster without losing any players.

Slaten appeared in nine rehab games in August, allowing two earned runs, striking out 11 and walking zero in 10 1/3 innings. Before he was injured, Slaten posted a 2.19 ERA in 12 1/3 innings pitched. He also issued eight walks and allowed 15 of the 30 runners he inherited to score.
