Nationals Manager Davey Johnson is feeling under the weather today. He doesn’t feel so bad – “I never get sick,” he said – but he has almost completely lost his voice. The pitch of speech is pretty close to a bird’s high-pitched squawk. “I’m going to have to get a designated yeller to yell at the umpires,” he said.
The Nationals will try to perk him up by starting their 10-game road trip to Colorado, Chicago and Philadelphia with a victory. Ross Detwiler is on the mound, making the second start of the season. Esmil Rogers, taking the traded Ubaldo Jimenez’s spot in the rotation, will pitch for the Rockies. He’ll take to the mound the very strange line of 4-1, 7.31 ERA.
Earlier this season, the Nationals lost a series in Washington to the Rockies, two games to one. As always, talk about the game right here.
