Jordan Zimmermann will make only three or four more starts this season, a limit the Nationals have decided on out of caution, not panic. Zimmermann has thrown 138 1/3 innings in his first full season following Tommy John surgery, and he feels better than any other Nationals starter. “If I didn’t know any history about him,” Manager Davey Johnson said, “it wouldn’t be in my thought process.”
So today, watch Zimmermann while you still can. He’ll face Ryan Dempster as the Nationals attempt to win their first road series under Davey Johnson. With a win, Zimmermann would also tie John Lannan and the departed Jason Marquis for the team lead, with eight.
As always, talk about the game right here.
