The Nationals will face Arizona right-hander Daniel Hudson, a 24-year-old with a 3.83 whom the Nationals reportedly could have traded for last season. The White Sox offered Hudson to the Nationals for Adam Dunn, but the Nationals declined and instead gathered a pair of compensatory draft picks for Dunn, which turned into Alex Meyer and Brian Goodwin (whom the Nationals spent $5 million combined to sign).
Livan Hernandez will start for the Nationals, five days after his rain-interrupted start against the Phillies, when he threw about 300 warm-up pitches between his usual warm-up and staying loose during a two-hour rain delay. He shouldn’t have that issue tonight, a beautiful evening for baseball.
