(Jonathan Newton - WASHINGTON POST)
A pitcher’s at-bats are often a good time to see what else is on TV. Not tonight. Livan Hernandez is 3 for 4 against Jair Jurrjens, one of those three hits doubling as a tall tale. Last year in Atlanta while standing on deck, he told a fan he would hit a homer off Jurrjens – and after he did (!), he gave that fan the bat he used.
The Braves have the third-best record in the National League this season, but the Nationals have played them even so far this year, going 6-6. And since 2008, the Nationals are actually 36-30 against Atlanta, a span during which the Nationals have a .403 winning percentage compared to the Braves’ .530.
The Nationals enter on a six-game losing streak. As always, talk about the game right here.
