Game 2 discussion thread: Braves at Nationals

(Jonathan Newton)

UPDATE, 3:31: The game will restart at roughly 3:45. The tarp is coming of the field. John Lannan is warming up in right field, so it looks like he’ll stay in. The Nationals also have the option of using Tom Gorzelanny. He will make his first start April 9, so he is available out of the bullpen today and tomorrow.

UPDATE, 2:55: Rain has delayed the game with the Nationals winning, 4-1, with two outs and Wilson Ramos on second in bottom of the fourth inning. Rick Ankiel blasted a two-run home run in the third and both Danny Espinosa and Michael Morse have driven in a run with a sac fly. Jayson Werth is 2 for 2 with two doubles and a run. Ramos, making his 2011 debut, is 2 for 2 with two singles. John Lannan has allowed five hits and one walk while striking out two and hitting one batter. Keep it here for updates on when the game will restart.

The Nationals will try for their first win of the season against right-hander Tommy Hanson, one of the best young pitchers in the league. John Lannan will take the mound for the Nationals. In his career, Lannan has had more success against the Braves than any other NL East team. In 10 career starts against Atlanta, Lannan has a 5-4 record with a 3.39 ERA. Last year, in Wilson Ramos’s major league debut, he beat the Braves by allowing two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.

As always, talk about the game right here.
