Game 30 discussion thread: Nationals at Phillies

(Jacquelyn Martin/Associated Press)

UPDATE, 7:20: Michael Morse was a late scratch. In his place, Laynce Nix will play left field and bat sixth. No word yet on why Morse is out of the game.

7:25:Morse has right knee soreness, a team spokesperson said. He could pinch-hit later in the game.

The Nationals will tonight will try to halt a stretch of five losses in six games on the road, something of an imperative given their road problems last season and the eight road games that lie ahead in the next nine days, counting tonight. Last year, the Nationals went 28-53 on the road, which offset their 41-40 home record.

They’ll send their best pitcher to the mound. Jason Marquis wasn’t expect to have that designation when the season began, but his five-hit shutout in his last start, Marquis is 3-0 with a 2.62 ERA. He’ll face Vance Worley, a college teammate of Danny Espinosa’s at Long Beach State who, in his only start this season, shut out the Mets for six innings.

Talk about the game right here.
