Welcome to the last day of the first third of the season. It’s another scorching day at Nationals Park, which caused a slight chance in the Nationals’ routine. They cancelled early batting practice, not wanting wear down players in the high-90s heat. The Nationals still had their usual batting practice.
One note for the future: the Nationals will make up their postponed game with the Pirates from May 17 as part of a single-admission doubleheader on July 2. The first game will begin at 3:35 p.m, and the second will follow at 7:05 p.m. or later, depending on how long Game 1 lasts. Season tickets and individual tickets for the May 17 can be exchanged for at the box office for seats of equal or lesser value. All July 2 ticket will get you in to both games.
As for tonight, the Nationals will try to solve Cliff Lee, who in his last performance at Nationals Park needed fewer than 100 pitches for a shutout. The Nationals are trying to snap a six-game losing streak against the Phillies.
Talk about the game right here.
