The Nationals are sitting at 3-3 on their current road trip, and getting to four wins would help the Nationals nudge closer to a rare event for them. They have, incredibly, not finished a multi-city road trip with a winning record in more than three years, since May 18, 2008. If they can win today, they’ll need only to split a four-game series in San Diego to end that streak.
Winning today, though, will not be easy. Yunesky Maya will take the mound, looking for his first career win. Maya has started seven games for the Nationals since last year, and they’ve lost them all. Meanwhile, Matt Cain will take his 3.64 ERA to the mound for the Giants. The Nationals beat Cain in April, when they scored three runs – two earned – against him in six innings.
It’s a 12:45 start today on the West Coast, 3:45 back East. As always, talk about the game right here.
