There’s actually a baseball game tonight, don’t forget. It seems like what’s transpired over the past 36 hours or so would be a shock to the system, but baseball is a game of routine, and the Nationals tried hard to keep theirs the same. They held no team meeting. The clubhouse felt the same. “Going to play is probably the best thing for them,” third base coach Bo Porter said. “It wouldn’t be good if we had an off-day today.”
Said third baseman Ryan Zimmerman: “I hate to say it’s not a big deal, because we all respect Jim and it’s tough not having him. But we’re going to go out and play just like we’ve been playing for the past [few weeks]. We’re going to go out and play.”
It’ll be Edwin Jackson against Jordan Zimmermann, who with another strong outing could lower his ERA to less than 3.00. John McLaren is managing. Talk about the game right here.
