Hours before Saturday’s first game, pinch hitter Matt Stairs was reclining in a large sofa chair in the clubhouse and receiving congratulations for his walk-off single in the ninth inning in Friday’s 2-1 win over the Pirates. The hit helped boost a struggling Stairs’ confidence and also gave new manager, Davey Johnson, his first win. Fans are hoping that with another strong pitching performance from starter Livan Hernandez and more clutch hitting Johnson will enjoy his first winning streak. Remember, there are two chances to win one game today.
