Jim Riggleman is going to the 2011 All-Star Game

The Nationals will have at least two representivites at the All-Star Game this season.

Manager Jim Riggleman will serve as a National League coach on Bruce Bochy’s staff this July in Arizona, Riggleman said today on Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio. In the early 90s, Bochy served as Riggleman’s third base coach when Riggleman managed the San Diego Padres.

“I was really, really flattered and honored because Bruce and I have a lot of history together,” Riggleman said in the radio interview. “He’s top shelf. He’s as good as it gets both in managing the game just as a person. I think the world of Bruce, and I really appreciate him bringing me on to the all-star staff.”

Bochy earned the right to manage by virtue of his San Francisco Giants winning the NL pennant last season. The All-Star Game will take place July 12 at Chase Field.
