Nationals, Giants set for early start

It’s an early start today at Nationals Park, as the Washington Nationals host the San Francisco Giants at 11:05 a.m. on the Fourth of July. After rocking Tim Lincecum last night, the Nats will face Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner (10-4, 2.85 ERA). Right hander Edwin Jackson (4-4, 3.57 ERA) gets the start for Washington.

“There’s going to be some tired eyes,” said Giants manager Bruce Bochy before Tuesday’s game.

Giants pitcher Barry Zito said the early start is something the team has never dealt with and it’s left “a lot of guys scratching their heads.”

“We just get in on Sunday at 3 in the morning, so it doesn't make sense,” said Zito. “But, people do what they have to do. So we’ll adjust accordingly.”

Here’s the lineups:

2.Bryce Harper CF

3. Ryan Zimmerman 3B

4. Michael Morse LF

5. Ian Desmond SS

6. Tyler Moore 1B

The Nationals made a minor roster move this morning, removing catcher Sandy Leon from the disabled list and optioning him to Class AA Harrisburg. Leon had been on the disabled list since he suffered a high-ankle sprain during his major league debut on May 14.
