Rick Ankiel and Michael Morse each hit a home run Friday night during their rehab appearance with Class AA Harrisburg at Bowie. Ankiel played center field and went 1 for 3, while Morse served as the designated hitter and went 2 for 3 and hit a double to go with his homer. Morse is eligible to return Tuesday in New York.
Meanwhile, Anthony Rendon made his professional debut with Class A Potomac and went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk at Lynchburg. Here’s the rest of the Nationals’ night in the minors:
Rochester 3, Syracuse 1: Bryce Harper went 1 for 4 with a single and a strikeout. Corey Brown went 3 for 4 with a triple. Tanner Roark allowed one run in six innings on three hits and three walks, striking out three.
Harrisburg 5, Bowie 2: Eury Perez went 2 for 5 with a stolen base. Jeff Kobernus went 2 for 5 with a steal. Paul Demny allowed no runs in four innings on five hits and three walks, striking out three.
Lynchburg 9, Potomac 3: Michael Taylor went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts. David Freitas went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer.
West Virginia 5, Hagerstown 3: Brian Goodwin went 0 for 1 with four walks and a strikeout. Todd Simko allowed no runs in 1 2/3 relief innings on no huts and two walks, striking out three.
