The Nationals placed rehabbing phenom Stephen Strasburg on the 60-day disabled list, an expected, procedural move that cleared a spot on their 40-man roster and allowed them to claim left-handed reliever Lee Hyde, who had been waived by the Braves.
The Nationals optioned Hyde, 26, to Class AAA Syracuse. Hyde pitched for both the Class AA and Class AAA Braves’ affiliates last season, totaling a 3.41 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings. Hyde underwent Tommy John surgery, the same operation
Strasburg is recovering from, in 2007.
