Nationals outright Garrett Mock to Class AAA Syracuse

The Nationals secured outright waivers on right-handed pitcher Garrett Mock and assigned him to Class AAA Syracuse, a team spokesman said. The Nationals designated Mock for assignment last week in order to clear space on their 40-man roster.

Mock, 28, broke spring training in 2010 as part of the Nationals’ starting rotation, but the Nationals sent him to the minors after just one start. Mock underwent neck surgery, spent most of 2010 on the disabled list and has not been back to the majors since. This year, Mock compiled a 6.39 ERA in 26 appearances across four different minor league levels.
