Chien-Ming Wang makes his fifth start of the season, this time against the Tampa Bay Rays, the fourth straight American League East team the Nationals have faced — all with .500 records or better. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 4.67 ERA and looking to win consecutive games for the first time this season.
It is the hottest day of the year at Nationals Park, and before the game Gio Gonzalez acted accordingly. He lugged two plastic bags full of water bottles to the outfield during batting practice, so the players out there shagging could drink them.
