The Nationals are trying for their first four-game sweep at home since baseball returned. One final note from yesterday: Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Edwin Jackson became the first starting pitcher since 1901 to win a game for seven different teams before turning 29. Before 1901, a few pitchers did it, including men named Jersey Bakely, Egyptian Healy and Silver King.
Today is Jackie Robinson Day across baseball, which is why every player on both teams will wear Robinson’s retired No. 42. In the house is former National Willie Harris, who is the only other player from Cairo, Ga. to make the major leagues. As always, talk about the game right here.
