Nationals replace first base coach Dan Radison with Trent Jewett

With Davey Johnson set to manage his first Nationals in Washington, the Nationals continued to shake up their coaching staff, and not only by welcoming bench coach Pat Corrales. They also fired first base coach Dan Radison and replaced him with Trent Jewett.

Radison was especially close with former manager Jim Riggleman, calling him “my best friend in the whole world” the day after Riggleman resigned. Jewett managed Class AAA Syracuse last season, and he has spent this year as a quality control coach, assisting with pregame drills and instruction and then watching the game out of uniform.

Radison had part of the Nationals’ staff since November 2009, coming aboard after the Nationals took the interim label off Riggleman. Radison had previously worked under Riggleman with the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres.
