The 48-95 Astros have basically been a traveling calamity all season, but they probably haven’t had anything happen to them like what transpired during batting practice this evening. Reliever Sergio Escalona was shagging batting practice, and he stepped on a glove and rolled his left ankle. A mini-ambulance carried him off the field, and he received X-rays. The results are unknown, but he presumably will not be available tonight. Unbelievable.
In the actual game, Tom Milone will make he second start of his career against Bud Norris. Milone’s Class AAA Manager, Randy Knorr, has come to the Nationals from Syracuse. Knorr explained that on days with a light roster, he would actually use Milone as a pinch-hitter. So maybe that home run he hit on the first pitch he saw in the majors wasn’t a total fluke.
As always, talk about the game right here.
