The Nationals will have their final chance today to leave their imprint on the National League playoff picture. The Braves lead the Cardinals by two games in the wild card race, and so today could provide a fulcrum for the race – the Braves could be one or three games ahead with three games remaining.
The Nationals can also keep alive their chance to finish with a .500 record. They need to win their final four games to go 81-80, which would be their best record since baseball returned to Washington. Ross Detwiler will follow the best start of his career, his 7 1/3 shutout innings against the Phillies last week.
As always, talk about the game right here.
