The Nationals have won five of nine games against the Phillies this season, and one of the few teams they have a negative run differential against. The Phillies have outscored the Nationals 31-27 in games this season. Right-hander Edwin Jackson (11-7, 3.69 ERA) takes the mound for the Nationals and opposes right-hander Kyle Kendrick (6-9, 4.20 ERA). Jackson’s last outing, though he suffered a loss, was likely his most dominating of the season: he struck out 11 batters with an electric dipping fastball and diving slider.
