No decision until tonight on status of game

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo told MLB Network the club is waiting until tonight to decide whether to play their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers that will feature the return of Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg in his first big league start since Tommy John surgery.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 this evening, but the forecast calls for rain throughout the day, including a chance for potentially heavy downpours. A steady rain has been lingering over Nationals Park this afternoon, and the tarp continues to cover the infield.

If tonight’s game is postponed, Strasburg will pitch in the first game of a split doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The weather forecast, however, calls for more rain tomorrow and throughout the rest of the week.
