No suspensions following Nationals-Cardinals scuffle

Major League Baseball issued fines to several participants involved in Monday’s benches-clearing incident
between the Cardinals and Nationals, but the league has decided not to suspend anyone. That includes Nationals opening day starter Livan Hernandez, who freely admitted he plunked Colby Rasmus on purpose.

The league does not announce punishments unless there are suspensions involved, so the full list of fined players is not available. But Hernandez drew a fine, and he was likely joined by Cardinals pitchers Chris Carpenter and Miguel Batista and managers Jim Riggleman and Tony La Russa.
