Roger Bernadina will not need to spend time on the disabled list after straining his right hamstring Monday night, Manager Davey Johnson says. Bernadina left the Nationals’ 6-3 win in the fourth inning after he injured his hamstring while diving into third base. Bernadina received an MRI, which Johnson said revealed no tear.
“In two or three days, he’ll probably be all right,” Johnson said. “I don’t see it being a problem. He’ll be back soon. He just tweaked it.”
Johnson had planned to start Bernadina, who is 4 for his last 8 with three walks, in center field every game this series. Tonight, Rick Ankiel, who blasted a home run Monday night, is starting in center.
