Ryan Zimmerman goes 0 for 3, makes an error in Potomac

Ryan Zimmerman played seven innings in Potomac during his third minor league rehab appearance, going 0 for 3 with a walk. Zimmerman also made a throwing error, not the most promising sign since he is working on his throwing mechanics and has said throwing is what still makes him most uncomfortable. (I obviously didn’t see the throw, so who knows how bad it was. It’s a Class A first baseman he’s throwing to, remember.)

Zimmerman has only played eight games this season, and he underwent surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle May 3. Zimmerman could meet the Nationals in San Diego depending on how he feels after he plays nine innings for the first time, but he will most likely return to the Nationals when they return home from their current 11-game road trip on Tuesday.
