Ryan Zimmerman scratched for today’s Nationals-Marlins game with shoulder inflammation [UPDATED]

(Evan Vucci - AP)

UPDATE, 1:47: The Nationals scratched Ryan Zimmerman with ”mild right shoulder inflammation,” but there is “no structural damage in the least,” a Nationals spokesman said. The Nationals consider him day-to-day.

Zimmerman, whom Davey Johnson had planned to give a day off to tomorrow, was scratched from today’s lineup at the last minute. Mark DeRosa will play third base and bat third in his place. Zimmerman fouled a ball off his left foot in the fourth inning last night, but that has no apparent relation to the scratch today.

More to come when available.
