Today’s Nationals-Mets lineup

Michael Morse is out of the lineup today. He’s fine, but Manager Davey Johnson wanted to give Morse a day off, like he did for Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman and Danny Espinosa this past week. “Just getting Mo’ a day,” Johnson said.

With Morse out of the lineup, Jayson Werth will play center field and bat cleanup, while Rick Ankiel is hitting fifth and playing right field. It’s interesting that, even with Ankiel in the game, Werth will play center. The Nationals clearly want to evaluate Werth and get him accustomed to playing center.
