Yunesky Maya starts, and the Nationals lineup

The Nationals officially recalled Cuban right-hander Yunesky Maya from Class AAA Syracuse and announced he will start today’s game against the Padres. Maya, whom the Nationals signed last summer to a four-year, $6 million major league contract, made five starts last season, going 0-3 with a 5.88 ERA. This year, Maya has a 3.79 ERA in nine starts at Class AAA Syracuse.

In their lineup, Danny Espinosa receives a rare day off — he has started 49 of 51 games this year, and he appeared in both games he did not start. Alex Cora will play second base and bat eighth. Roger Bernadina is back leading off and playing center.
