Michael Morse, as expected, remains out of the Nationals’ lineup. Steve Lombardozzi is playing in his place in left field today against right-hander  Tommy Hanson. Roger Bernadina played last night, but he has a stiff neck after crashing into the fence to make a dazzling catch. Manager Davey Johnson said Bernadina could play. He went with Lombardozzi because, “Lombo’s got 50 percent of his homers off this guy.” Indeed, Lombardozzi hit one of his two home runs off Hanson.

Morse remained an observer, not taking batting practice. Johnson said doctors have told him Morse will not further damage his bone-bruised left wrist by playing. It is a manner of pain tolerance, Johnson said, and “he’s still sore.”

Morse will rest again Sunday night, Johnson sad. With left-hander Mike Minor pitching for Atlanta, Tyler Moore will start in left field.
