Nationals-Braves discussion thread: Game 146

Gio Gonzalez enters tonight’s showcase against the Braves leading the majors with 19 wins and a 2.93 ERA, currently fifth in the National League. With a complete-game shutout (asking a lot, we know), Gonzalez would creep up to third in the National League. It may help that the Braves are 27-29 this season against left-handed starters. The Nationals are 27-17, and they’ll face a lefty, too, in Mike Minor.

Manager Davey Johnson said he will not use Ryan Mattheus tonight out of the bullpen to give him rest. Mattheus has pitched two straight days, and last night he completely lost his command as he walked two and hit a batter to force in the game-winning run. Talk about the game right here.
