Nationals at Reds discussion thread: Game 5

The morning after their worst trouncing in team history, the Nationals by all appearances had brushed aside the 15-0 beat-down administered by the Reds last night. They watched SportsCenter, told jokes and ragged on one another before taking batting practice. It felt like any other day.

As you get settled in for today’s Ross Detwiler-Mike Leake matchup, there’s one minor league note to pass along from last night. Class AAA Syracuse right-hander Tanner Roark no-hit Lehigh Valley for six innings, striking out seven and walking only two before being pulled.

As for this series, it’s a shame that Sunday starter Stephen Strasburg missed Leake by one day. Read this Dave Sheinin story from 2010 on Strasburg’s competitiveness, and pay particular attention to the end. Then talk about the game right here.
