Danny Espinosa out: Nationals-Marlins lineups

(Evan Vucci / AP) (Evan Vucci / AP)

Danny Espinosa is out of the lineup after being struck on the right wrist by a pitch in Sunday’s game. He hoped to return without missing a game but Davey Johnson wanted to rest him at least a day or two. Steve Lombardozzi starts at second base instead. Adam LaRoche is also out of the lineup and Tyler Moore starts at first base. No reason has yet been given but it could be because LaRoche wanted a day off or Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc is a left-hander.

There may be no better cure for the Nationals and their disappointing three-game sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves than the worst team in baseball, the Marlins, who carry a 2-10 in Monday night’s game. Also, it’s Jackie Robinson Day across the league and everyone will wear an unnamed No. 42 jersey in his honor. No Giancarlo Stanton for the Marlins, as he is day to day with a sore shoulder.
