Tonights Nationals-Diamondbacks lineups: Jayson Werth playing, Ryan Zimmerman out

(Alex Brandon / AP)

Jayson Werth returns to the lineup after he left Sunday’s game with a left groin strain. The bad news for the Nationals is, Ryan Zimmerman is not in the lineup despite an off day yesterday. He played Sunday and the team was off yesterday, so it’s unclear what’s holding him out. He has no bad history with Trevor Cahill or anything, so it appears to be something physical. We’ll find out.

The Nationals will get their first look of the season at the first-place Diamondbacks, who enter having won four of their past five. Right-handed bench bat Eric Hinske will serve a one-game suspension tonight for his role in Arizona’s brawl with the Dodgers, while second baseman Aaron Hill will return tonight from the disabled list. Trevor Cahill will face Gio Gonzalez, who earned his last win May 5, owing far more to lousy run support than his performance.
