With his shutdown looming, Taylor Jordan takes the mound for the ninth time in the majors this season. He sits at 136 innings and the Nationals hope to cap him at no more than 155 innings. Jordan has felt the wear of the longest season and largest workload of his life, and Manager Davey Johnson has noticed a tailing off in stuff. “But I really like his stuff,” Johnson said. “He’s a very competitive pitcher. I like everything I’ve seen from him.” Jordan (1-3, 4.14 ERA) is opposed by left-hander Alex Wood (2-2, 2.78 ERA), a type of pitcher the Nationals have struggled with all season. The Braves are 14 1/2 games ahead of the Nationals. The lineups are here. As always, discuss the game here.
