Nationals-Cubs to play day-night doubleheader on June 28

natsparkOpening day is less than two months away but there’s already a change to the regular-season schedule. The Nationals and Cubs have moved the final game of their four-game series in Chicago on JuneĀ  up a day. Instead, according to the Cubs, a city alderman asked for the change and the teams will play a day-night doubleheader at Wrigley Field on June 28 to accommodate the neighborhood traffic and congestion as a result of Chicago’s annual Pride Parade on June 29.

The first game is slated for 1:05 p.m. EST followed by the second game at 7:15 p.m. According to Cubs historian Ed Hartig, the last day-night doubleheader at Wrigley Field was July 4, 1983.

The Nationals will gain an off day on the 29th and spend it at home before hosting the Rockies in Washington on the 30th.
