Nationals-Mets lineup and discussion thread

The Nationals will conclude their Grapefruit League schedule today in Port St. Lucie against the Mets. Jordan Zimmermann will start, and back in Viera, Doug Fister is probably finished with his minor league start. We’ll have an update on that when available.

After he played in a minor league game yesterday, Ryan Zimmerman is out of the lineup today. Zimmerman has been feeling some soreness — not in his shoulder, Matt Williams said — and dealing with a stomach issue. Underscoring his lack of concern, Williams said Zimmerman will play in Saturday’s exhibition at Nationals Park. “He’s got a lot of at-bats,” Williams said. “He’s good.”

The Nationals are using a lineup that could feasibly be used in the regular season, and it includes Anthony Rendon leading  off, Wilson Ramos batting cleanup and Denard Span batting second.

“Just having a look,” Williams said. “That’s it. Potentials during the season. You never know. Not too much to read into it other than we want to take a look.”

The game is live on ESPN.
