Left-handed reliever¬† Xavier Cedeno came to Washington this morning from Class AAA Syracuse and, at noon, he was sitting outside the Nationals clubhouse. It’s not clear whether Cedeno will be activated for today’s game or if the Nationals brought him here as a contingency after they needed 7 2/3 innings from their bullpen last night. Cedeno himself said he wasn’t sure.

“It’s taxed,” Manager Matt Williams said about his bullpen last night. “We’ll have to tippy-toe through if we have to. Had to use them tonight. Didn’t have a choice.”

As for today’s series finale against the Marlins, center fielder Denard Span is getting a day off in favor of Nate McLouth. Sandy Leon will catch Stephen Strasburg and give Jose Lobaton a day off.
