Traded by the Phillies as a minor leaguer, Gio Gonzalez has come back to haunt them in their own stadium. In six starts at Citizens Bank Park, Gonzalez has gone 4-1 with a 2.39 ERA. He’ll make his seventh start here today against Roberto Hernandez, the sinkerballer formerly known as Fausto Carmona.

The Nationals might be playing for first place today. If the Braves suffer their second straight sweep by losing to the red-hot Giants, then a win by the Nationals will catapult them into first place.

The Nationals have still yet to decide on Tuesday’s starter. They would prefer to give it to Ross Detwiler, but they don’t want to limit their ability to use him out of the bullpen, either. If Detwiler pitches today or Monday, then the Nationals will summon Blake Treinen from Class AAA Syracuse to make the start against the Dodgers.

Talk about the game right here.
