Division titles can be built on the back of an inferior opponent, and the Nationals are in the process of using the Mets for that purpose. They have beaten the Mets in all four meetings this season and in nine straight dating back to last season. Take away their games against the Nationals, and the Mets would actually be sitting above .500 at 19-18.
