Tonight’s Nationals-Giants lineup: Wilson Ramos sits

Having won the first two games of their-game set with the Giants, the Nationals are essentially playing today and tomorrow with house money. They’ll have to play today without catcher Wilson Ramos, who left last night’s game in the eighth inning with right hamstring tightness.

The Nationals evaluated Ramos this morning, and no word is available yet. But Ramos reiterated to one Nationals official that he feels confident he did not hurt it as badly as he hurt his left hamstring last season.  Kevin Frandsen, the Nationals’ emergency catcher, emerged from the Nationals dugout carrying shin guards around 3 p.m. local time. Frandsen proceeded to catch Jordan Zimmermann’s bullpen session.

That’s a grim indicator for Ramos’s availability tonight, but probably a good sign for his overall health. If the Nationals believed a stint on the disabled list was necessary, they wouldn’t need Frandsen worrying about catching, because either Sandy Leon or Jhonatan Solano would be headed to the West Coast. That’s all speculative, to be clear. We’ll have an update on Ramos shortly.
