After a successful pinch-hitting appearance in Sunday night’s comeback win over the Pirates, Jayson Werth is back in the Nationals’ lineup against Vidal Nuno and the Diamondbacks Monday. Werth had not appeared in a game since Aug. 10 prior to drawing a walk in the ninth inning Sunday, then doubling to key the game-winning rally in the 11th.

The 35-year-old had been battling an acromioclavicular (AC) joint sprain in his right shoulder, but shortened his swing to alleviate pressure on the shoulder. The adjustment worked, and the righty will have the advantage of facing the southpaw Nuno as he works his way back into the starting lineup.

Also notable in the starting nine is Asdrubal Cabrera, whose playing time had mostly been limited to starts against right-handed starters since been acquired on July 31. After his show-stopping double play Sunday night, he’ll get a chance against Nuno, his 13th start, second against a left-hander.
